Tax Accountant

We are looking for a skilled Tax Accountant to join an accounting practice in Osterville, Massachusetts on a Long-term Contract basis. This position centers on preparing tax filings and supporting bookkeeping activities while offering the chance to expand into a more specialized tax-focused role over time. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, relevant experience, and the ability to contribute meaningfully in a collaborative office environment.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare individual tax returns accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with applicable tax regulations
• Support day-to-day bookkeeping activities by organizing financial records, reviewing transactions, and helping keep client accounts current
• Use Lacerte Tax Software to complete tax preparation work, validate entries, and manage return documentation
• Collaborate with office staff, including tax and bookkeeping team members, to ensure timely completion of client deliverables
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients to gather required tax documents and resolve missing or unclear information
• Assist with additional accounting-related projects that may include exposure to business valuation and forensic accounting assignments
• Review financial data for completeness and consistency before finalizing returns or related accounting work• Experience preparing tax returns, particularly individual filings
• Working knowledge of tax preparation processes and standard bookkeeping practices
• Proficiency with Lacerte Tax Software
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate financial work
• Detail-oriented approach and the ability to contribute beyond an entry-level scope
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with office staff and clients
