Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A healthcare facility in Merrill, WI, is looking for a skilled Staff Pharmacist to join their pharmacy team on a contract-to-hire basis. This position supports a 30-bed rehabilitation hospital with an average daily census of 28 patients. The pharmacy operates with a team of two pharmacists and one technician, utilizing the Wellsky hospital pharmacy information system and Pyxis automation system.

Schedule & Hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Core coverage from approximately 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM (hours negotiable)
  • Pharmacy hours expanding to 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with shared weekend/after-hours/on-call coverage alongside pharmacy management

Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Prepare, dispense, and verify medications, including sterile IV compounds (limited IV compounding experience required; no chemotherapy involved)
  • Monitor patient medication therapy, recommend clinical interventions, and adjust dosing based on laboratory values
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members
  • Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations
  • Provide drug information and medication counseling to healthcare staff and patients
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other personnel
  • Document clinical interventions and maintain accurate patient records
  • Manage inventory, including controlled substances, and promote medication safety
  • Participate in quality assurance and overall pharmacy operations
  • Stay current with pharmacy best practices and clinical guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Active and clear Wisconsin pharmacy license
  • Experience with hospital inpatient pharmacy and IV compounding (limited)
  • Familiarity with automated dispensing systems preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
