Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Colorado, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and multiple active certifications including TNCC.

  • Acute care hospital Emergency Department (ED/ER) setting at a Level 3 Trauma Center and STEMI Receiving/Stroke Center
  • \n
  • Common patient diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN
  • \n
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity, with an average of 25 patients treated per day
  • \n
  • ER holds are intermixed within the main ED; no separate psych/seclusion rooms
  • \n
  • RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently (no monitor techs on unit)
  • \n
  • RNs will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
  • \n
  • RT is available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
  • \n
  • Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and help with triage
  • \n
  • Charting is done in Epic
  • \n
  • 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend required
  • \n
  • Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
  • \n
  • Floating is required within the regional ER zone
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
  • \n
  • Required active certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC — pending certifications are not accepted
  • \n
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • \n
  • Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
  • \n
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (permanent address verified by driver's license)
  • \n
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • \n
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • \n

  • 13-week assignment with 12-hour night shifts
  • \n
  • Orientation is 2-3 days on unit; clinicians must be physically on-site in Colorado for the full orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
  • \n
  • Schedule is set by leadership based on unit needs
  • \n
  • Travelers are expected to float within the zone they are hired into and are responsible for securing housing that allows them to meet this requirement
  • \n
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
