Position: Level 3 Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Patient Population: Adults & Pediatrics
W. W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week night-shift assignment. The RN will provide care to adult and pediatric patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical conditions and diseases.
\nThe RN may provide coverage in both the ICU and Step-Down Unit (SDU) based on department needs.
Unit & Staffing Ratios:\n- \n
- ICU: 2 patients per RN (2:1 ratio) \n
- SDU: 3 patients per RN (3:1 ratio) \n
- Must have pediatric patient-care experience \n
- Must be comfortable caring for acutely ill patients across a broad range of diagnoses. \n
- \n
- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill adult and pediatric patients. \n
- Monitor patients closely and recognize changes in clinical condition. \n
- Provide evidence-based nursing care for patients with complex and acute medical conditions. \n
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments. \n
- Monitor and manage patients requiring intensive nursing interventions. \n
- Utilize cardiac monitoring, infusion pumps, and other critical-care equipment appropriately. \n
- Perform and document NIHSS assessments as required. \n
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. \n
- Provide patient and family education and emotional support. \n
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner EMR. \n
- Safely administer medications using the Pyxis automated medication dispensing system. \n
- Follow infection-control and patient-safety protocols. \n
- Maintain appropriate PPE and wear a mask at all times while working in the ICU. \n
- Float to the SDU as needed based on staffing and patient-care requirements. \n
- \n
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required. \n
- ICU/critical-care experience required. \n
- Pediatric experience is mandatory. \n
- Current Oklahoma single-state RN license or Compact nursing license. \n
- NIHSS certification required for all RNs/LPNs. \n
- Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and clinical skills. \n
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred/required per facility workflow. \n
All certifications must be American Heart Association (AHA):
