We operate with a hands-on team approach and are looking for people who are willing to learn, take ownership, and support projects from planning through closeout.
The Role
We are hiring a Project Engineer – Mechanical Construction to support our Project Managers across active commercial mechanical projects. This is an early-career role for someone who is hungry, detail-oriented, coachable, and interested in growing into a Project Manager and/or Estimator over time.
The ideal candidate will typically have 2–5 years of experience supporting construction projects, preferably in mechanical construction. We will also consider entry-level candidates with a relevant four-year degree, such as Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, if they have strong internship, co-op, field, or project exposure.
What You’ll Do
• Manage and track submittals, product data, RFIs, closeout documents, and project logs
• Assist with takeoffs, quantities, job costing, and estimating support as needed
• Support purchasing, including material ordering, lead times, delivery coordination, and vendor follow-up
• Help build and maintain project documentation, files, turnover packages, and closeout materials
• Support job planning and scheduling; Microsoft Project exposure is a plus
• Assist with permits, utility locates, and related project documentation as needed
• Create and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, crane plans, and compliance records
• Attend job walks when needed, take photos, capture detailed notes, and verify field conditions
• Measure and verify field conditions to support mechanical, piping, plumbing, and HVAC coordination
• Use tools such as Bluebeam; AutoCAD familiarity is a plus for mechanical coordination work
• Communicate professionally with project managers, field leaders, vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and customers
What We’re Looking For
• 2–5 years of experience supporting construction projects, preferably in mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, piping, or commercial construction
• Or a relevant four-year degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field with internship, co-op, field, or project experience
• Comfortable around jobsites and able to communicate professionally with field teams
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to stay organized across multiple priorities
• Ability to manage a mixed workload, including submittals, purchasing, permits, job walks, documentation, and project support
• Coachable, adaptable, team-oriented, and willing to learn how Airco MEP runs work
• Interest in long-term growth into Project Management and/or Estimating
Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Project experience or coursework
• OSHA coursework or certifications, such as OSHA-10 or OSHA-30
