Small Engine Technician

Job Overview: We are seeking a versatile, highly skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. In this dual-purpose role, you will be primarily responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of 2-cycle and 4-cycle small engines. Additionally, you will handle routine maintenance and light repairs for our fleet of company trucks. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and takes pride in keeping equipment running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Small Engine Repair: Diagnose, repair, and maintain various small engines (e.g., generators, mowers, chainsaws, pumps, and other motorized equipment).
• Truck Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on company trucks, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid top-offs.
• Troubleshooting: Inspect broken equipment to determine the root cause of electrical, fuel, or mechanical malfunctions.
• Parts & Inventory: Identify required replacement parts, communicate needs to management, and help manage basic shop inventory.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized shop environment in compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in small engine repair (highly preferred).
• Truck Knowledge: Proven experience performing basic maintenance and repairs on light/medium-duty trucks.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, basic electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to read technical manuals or schematics.
• Tools: Must possess a standard set of your own mechanic's hand tools (specialty tools provided).
• Requirements: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50+ lbs safely.
