Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Engineer Manager to join the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) leadership team in North Charleston, SC at the Boeing South Carolina (BSC) site.
This role will lead the environmental strategy for the 787 Program and the BSC site, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting sustainable site growth, and embedding environmental stewardship into operational decision-making. The successful candidate will partner closely with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to advance a robust environmental program that supports efficient operations, safe construction, and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop, lead, and integrate a comprehensive Environmental strategy for the 787 Program and the BSC site that aligns with corporate goals and site business plans
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with site leadership, engineering, operations, construction, and cross-functional teams to ensure environmental requirements and best practices are embedded in daily operations and long-term planning
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, Boeing’s internal policies. Maintain and continuously improve the environmental management system and compliance oversight processes
Provide oversight and technical direction for environmental permitting, reporting, and inspections; coordinate with regulatory agencies as needed
Partner with site expansion, construction, and design teams to integrate environmental requirements into facility design, construction planning, and operational readiness activities to enable safe, compliant growth
Serve as a liaison with government agencies to cultivate and maintain productive regulatory relationships
Lead, mentor, and develop environmental staff; foster a high-performing team culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
Identify, prioritize, and drive environmental initiatives and integrated action plans that reduce risk, improve performance, and deliver measurable business value. Apply Lean principles to optimize processes and organizational effectiveness
Use data analytics and structured problem-solving to inform decisions; establish and track metrics, schedules, and deliverables to ensure timely closure of action items
Prepare executive-level briefings, status reports, and technical documentation for site leadership and key stakeholders
Promote Boeing values — Safety and Quality, People Focus, Trust, Ownership, and Innovation — within the EHS organization and across the site
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, or other relevant technical field
5+ years of experience with environmental compliance and environmental program management
5+ years building influence and strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders across functions
5+ years leading or managing a team
Capability to travel up to 5%
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Advanced degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
Experience integrating environmental requirements into construction and site expansion projects
Experience using data analytics, environmental metrics, and Lean/Six Sigma methods to drive improvements
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive briefings, regulatory submittals, and technical reports
Experience in aerospace, heavy manufacturing, or large-scale industrial site environments

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $143,650 - $194,350
