American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Preop/PACU position at an acute care facility in Artesia, NM, requiring at least 2 years of experience and ortho experience.

- Acute care hospital setting with a combined Preop/PACU unit (4 Preop beds, 6 PACU beds) \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 in Preop and 1:1 to 1:2 in PACU \n
- Expected to rotate between Preop, PACU Phase 1, Phase 2, and Discharge \n
- Common cases include orthopedic, gynecological, urology, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, and endoscopy \n
- No ICU in the facility; ICU patients do not recover in PACU \n
- PACU Clerk available to assist with transports and administrative tasks; respiratory therapy overseen by anesthesia with RT available to assist \n
- Anesthesia oversees RT equipment; RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently \n
- EMR: TruBridge Evident (also known as CPSI) \n
- Day shift; Preop starts at 0530, PACU flex start between 0800–0900; 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday \n
- Call required approximately once per weeknight per week and one weekend per month (end of shift Friday through beginning of shift Monday) \n
- When on call, nurse serves as the 2nd nurse in PACU \n
- Call response time within 1 hour for candidates living outside of Artesia \n
- Occasional floating to the floor for low-census situations; not common \n
- \n
- Active NM or Compact RN license required \n
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS \n
- Minimum 2 years of PACU or Preop/PACU nursing experience required \n
- Orthopedic surgical experience required \n
- Endoscopy experience preferred \n
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips required \n

- Responsibilities include perioperative nursing care across Preop, PACU Phase 1 & 2, and patient discharge \n
- Designated working charge nurse typically carries a patient assignment \n
- 1-week orientation with a preceptor provided \n
- Online modules must be completed prior to working the floor; modules take approximately 20 hours to complete \n
- May be asked to participate in the holiday call rotation \n
- Blue scrubs required; scrubs are provided by the facility \n
