Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and Epic experience.

Details\n

\n
• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with an average of 2,000 annual deliveries
\n
• Unit includes 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
\n
• Care for low-risk patients including certified nurse midwife population and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
\n
• Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-7:00), totaling 36 hours
\n
• Uses Epic EMR
\n
• Required to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower infants
\n
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
\n
• Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
\n
• BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications required
\n
• ACLS certification preferred
\n
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
\n
• Epic charting system experience required
\n
• BSN preferred
\n
• Two professional references required
\n
• Nursys verification required
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
\n
• Assist with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including newborn assessments and circumcision site care
\n
• Support surgical procedures including circulating and recovery for C-sections
\n
• Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate therapy
\n
• Manage postpartum hemorrhage care and follow baby-friendly protocols
\n
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and neonatal resuscitation as needed
\n
• Up to 16 non-billable orientation hours for specialty-specific training modules, recorded in Workday
\n
• Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
\n
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
\n
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
\n
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
