American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years OR experience and an active SD or compact RN license.

- Work setting is an acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Operating Room \n
- OR department consists of 4 OR Suites, 1 Procedure Room, 8 PACU Bays, and 18 Patient Center Rooms \n
- Surgical specialties include general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR; 1:1-4 in the Patient Center depending on acuity; 2:1 in PACU \n
- Charting is performed via Epic; medications are managed through the Pyxis system \n
- Specialized equipment includes arthroscopic pumps and shavers, cautery machines, laser, fracture table, and C-arm X-ray \n
- Day shift, 8-hour shifts \n
- Call rotation required 1-2 days per week, every 2nd-4th weekend, and rotating holidays, shared among 3-4 RNs \n
- May float within the peri-operative department, including pre-op, PACU, and outpatient services (infusions, dressing changes, etc.) \n

- Active SD RN license or compact RN license required \n
- BSN required \n
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS \n
- PALS preferred \n
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required \n
- Epic EMR experience preferred \n
- Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years \n
- All certifications and licenses must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted \n

- Responsibilities include circulating surgery cases, pulling and prepping for cases, working from a preference card system, and setting up, cleaning, and turning over OR rooms \n
- Strong organizational and note-taking skills are important for this role \n
- Orientation includes an initial department walkthrough, general hospital orientation, and hands-on training on equipment and supplies, with additional in-depth training provided as needed based on individual experience \n
- Ceil blue scrubs are required and will be provided by the facility \n
- All staff must badge in and out at the facility \n
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must disclose this; prior Sanford Health employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date \n
