Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Inpatient Care Coordinator with an active Alaska RN license and a minimum of 8 years of clinical nursing experience for a 13-week travel assignment.

• Manages patient progression of care, discharge planning, and utilization review for admitted patients

Requirements\n

• Active Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
\n
• BSN required
\n
• Minimum 8 years of clinical care or nursing experience, with at least 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality services
\n
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
\n
• Case Management certification from a recognized certifying organization (e.g., NCQA, CCMC) preferred
\n
• Knowledge of medical necessity review, level of care determination, and public/private insurance reimbursement
\n
• Familiarity with basic ICD-9 and CPT coding
\n
• Knowledge of CMS regulations
\n
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease concepts
\n
• Strong written, oral, and organizational communication skills
\n
• Flu vaccine required
\n
• DOB and SSN may be required for consideration
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Reviews patient records and evaluates patient progress to monitor necessity and appropriateness of hospitalization, length of stay, and quality of care
\n
• Collaborates with physicians and clinical care teams to ensure adherence to utilization management, case management, and discharge care planning
\n
• Provides utilization management review functions for beneficiary patients admitted to other facilities through the Purchased/Referred Care Services program
\n
• Coordinates with payers, reviews and validates physician orders, and ensures documentation supports required UM functions within required timeframes
\n
• Facilitates educational programs and advises staff on regulations affecting utilization and case management
\n
• Performs tumor registry functions and supports quality improvement activities
\n
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities
\n
• Fingerprint card processing is required prior to the start date — candidates should be prepared to submit fingerprint cards promptly upon acceptance to avoid delays
