Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Emergency Department travel assignment at a Level III Trauma Center in Oregon, requiring active OR licensure and TNCC certification.

  • Emergency Department (ER) position in an acute care hospital setting
  • \n
  • Level III Trauma Center with 21 ED beds, 1 trauma bay, a 4-bed fast track area, and 2 dedicated triage rooms
  • \n
  • Travelers are permitted and expected to perform triage
  • \n
  • General ED patient population with approximately 125 patients seen per day
  • \n
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1
  • \n
  • Psychiatric/crisis care available with 4 dedicated psych/seclusion rooms plus 2 convertible crisis rooms
  • \n
  • ER holds are managed by ER staff and are intermixed within the main ED
  • \n
  • Telemetry monitoring available on the unit; RNs read their own strips
  • \n
  • ED Techs and RNs perform most blood draws; Imaging staff transport patients for X-ray and CT
  • \n
  • RTs perform ABGs and breathing treatments; RNs and Techs perform EKGs
  • \n
  • EMR system: MEDITECH
  • \n
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • 13-week contract
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active OR RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • \n
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
  • \n
  • PALS or ENPC recommended but not required
  • \n
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • \n
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • \n

  • The facility is willing to request a 90-day emergency OR license if needed
  • \n
  • Orientation is provided before the first shift (12 hours)
  • \n
  • 24/7 coverage includes ED physicians, charge RN, house supervisor, and ED techs; PAs are available 8–16 hours per day
  • \n
  • No floating required
  • \n
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • \n
  • Holiday coverage required per contract schedule
  • \n
  • Scrubs may be any color except purple
  • \n
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
