Union Health is hiring a Registered Nurse to join the 3EC Medical Surgical Oncology team at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
\nThe 3EC unit specializes in caring for post-operative general surgery patients and oncology patients receiving treatment or managing cancer-related conditions. Nurses on this unit develop advanced medical-surgical and oncology skills while working alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team in a Magnet-designated hospital recognized for nursing excellence.
\n
As a Surgical Oncology RN, you will:
\n- \n
- Assess, monitor, and care for post-operative surgical patients \n
- Provide care for oncology patients throughout treatment and recovery \n
- Develop individualized nursing care plans \n
- Administer medications, blood products, and chemotherapy (after required training) \n
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge care \n
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and care management teams \n
- Document patient care using Cerner EMR \n
- Maintain patient safety while delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care \n
This unit offers experience with:

- Post-operative surgical recovery \n
- Central lines (CVADs & PICCs) \n
- Wound VAC therapy and complex wound care \n
- Foley catheter insertion and Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) \n
- Nasogastric tube insertion and management \n
- Ostomy care and patient education \n
- Chemotherapy administration \n
- Chest tube management \n
- Epidural management \n
- JP and Accordion drain care \n
- Blood product administration \n

- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) \n
- Current Indiana RN License (or eligible to obtain) \n
- BLS Certification \n
- Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience \n
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills \n
- Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and assist with up to 100 pounds \n
