Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring an active IN or Compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit at a short-term acute care hospital
\n
• Adult and geriatric patient population
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
\n
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (17:00–05:30)
\n
• Every other weekend required
\n
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required
\n
• Charting is performed in Cerner (experience required)
\n
• Free parking available on-site
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active IN or Compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
\n
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
\n
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (screened at 1.5 years)
\n
• Cerner EMR experience required
\n
• RN degree must be from a program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
\n
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
\n
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
\n
• Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Experience with the following conditions is preferred: thoracentesis, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CVA, hypoxia, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, small bowel obstruction, altered mental status, and renal failure
\n
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
\n
• Scrub colors required: red top and black pants
\n
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
\n
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
\n
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
\n
• Any permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
\n
• IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
