Travel Physical Therapy Assistant - Acute Care Hospital
Charleston, WV
$1600/week
\n The Physical Therapy Assistant - Acute Care Hospital will support patient care in a large acute care hospital setting by following Physical Therapist plans of care, assisting with treatment sessions, supporting mobility and transfer activities, and educating patients and families. This 13-week assignment is based in Charleston, WV, and requires acute care hospital experience.
Physical Therapy Assistant Responsibilities:

- Follow the Physical Therapist’s plan of care for adult and geriatric acute care patients. \n
- Provide treatment support for approximately 16 units of treatment per day. \n
- Assist with home exercise programs, lifting and transfers, patient and family education, safety and injury prevention, and billing-related documentation. \n
- Support mobility and patient care using equipment such as bed alarms, call lights, crutches, gait belts, hospital beds, rolling walkers, and sit-to-stand lifts. \n
- Perform and support assessments including AROM/AAROM/PROM, arousal and attention, assistive device use, body mechanics, environmental barriers, pain assessments, sensory response, strength testing, and vital signs. \n
- Work with patients in a 390-bed acute care hospital environment, including heart surgery, orthopedic, and medical patient populations. \n
Physical Therapy Assistant Qualifications:

- A minimum of 1 year of PTA experience is required. \n
- Acute care hospital experience is preferred. \n
- BLS certification is required. \n
- Travel experience is preferred; first-time travelers may be considered if specialty experience is strong. \n
- An active WV license is required before assignment start; candidates may be submitted with a pending WV license. \n
- Experience with Cerner is preferred due to the facility's charting system. \n
- Must be comfortable working with adult and geriatric patient populations. \n
