Cara Veterinary utilizes a Tier 1 through Tier 4 Licensed Veterinary Technician career path. Advancement is based on a combination of demonstrated skills, clinical expertise, leadership, performance, and tenure within the organization.


What You'll Do

  • Provide exceptional patient care and nursing support throughout the patient visit. 
  • Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and medical information. 
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures. 
  • Perform laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing. 
  • Assist with radiology and imaging procedures. 
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by a veterinarian. 
  • Monitor anesthesia and support surgical and dental procedures. 
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate medical and anesthetic equipment. 
  • Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and discharge instructions. 
  • Advocate for patient health, comfort, and well-being. 
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation. 
  • Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide high-quality patient care. 
  • Support a positive, efficient, and compassionate hospital environment. 
  • Mentor and support fellow team members as skills and experience grow.

Qualifications

  • Current Washington State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential, or ability to obtain licensure. 
  • Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology program. 
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred. 
  • Strong technical, nursing, and animal handling skills. 
  • Excellent communication and client service abilities. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. 
  • Ability to assist with lifting patients weighing more than 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to safely restrain patients and work around animals of varying temperaments. 
  • Ability to use hospital equipment, computers, and medical instruments safely and effectively. 
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to animals, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and controlled substances.
