Job Description:
Our client, an international AmLaw 100 firm, is looking to hire a Senior Research Innovation Manager at their offices in New York City. The position will allow for a hybrid work schedule with 4 days a week onsite and will pay an annual base salary of $175K to $195K plus a performance-based bonus and excellent benefits package.
SUMMARY:
You are a visionary leader, prepared to drive technology transformation within our Research team. As Senior Research Innovation Manager, you will create and implement a strategic roadmap to boost our client’s research capabilities through generative AI. You will identify emerging tools, conduct pilot tests, and manage firm-wide adoption to enhance attorney and Research team productivity and deliver client results. With the Managing Director of Research & Competitive Intelligence, you will also coach, manage and inspire the team, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve research excellence.
- Partner with Knowledge & Innovation team leaders and key stakeholders to understand department goals and pain points and translate these insights into an actionable strategy and adoption plan.
- Continuously scan the legal tech landscape and evaluate innovations in intelligent search, analytics, and other high-potential areas.
- Design and lead pilots of AI research tools, quantifying value, capturing feedback, and building buy-in with lawyers.
- Create rollout strategy and training programs that smoothly onboard lawyers to new resources, positioning you as a trusted change agent.
- Oversee aspects of daily research operations like work allocation and quality assurance, but also talent development, and upskilling.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In coordination with the Managing Director, manage and lead a hybrid team (remote and across PW offices) of research and information professionals, including providing guidance and assessments as needed.
- Aid in the evaluation and assessment of legal research tools, guiding the testing and potential firm-wide rollouts of new systems, resources and processes. Collaborate with vendors on demos and testing, including proof of concepts.
- Collaborate with practice group leaders and Business Professional teams to understand research needs and provide customized solutions and process efficiencies.
- Identify attorney training opportunities by analyzing research request data and aligning with practice group goals and objectives.
- Train and mentor new staff and assist with onboarding processes, as well as preparing performance evaluations and professional development plans.
- Develop a communications cadence with practice group leaders that connects the business needs of the firm with research capabilities and resources.
- Monitor the emerging legal technologies landscape and service delivery models to identify potential innovation opportunities for the team.
- Provides support on other projects or duties as assigned. Monitoring of research workflow after hours can be expected.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience / Education
Advanced degree, including MLS, MBA and/or J.D. from an accredited university, strongly preferred. Eight to ten years of research experience in a large law firm, or experience as a practicing attorney, preferred.

- Expert knowledge of a wide range of corporate research resources, including Bloomberg, Dealogic, Capital IQ, Intelligize and Lexis/Westlaw suite of products, among others.
- Able to spot trends and assess how innovations will align with the firm’s goals and strategic direction.
