Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Port Wentworth, GA

Based near Port Wentworth, GA, this position involves working onsite across multiple school locations, assisting students from elementary through high school in achieving mobility goals.

As an O&M Specialist, you’ll design and implement individualized strategies, ensuring your schedule aligns with both instructional needs and IEPs for your caseload. The ability to work independently, manage your own calendar, and collaborate across sites is essential.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active COMS certification through AVCREP.
• Valid GaPSC Teaching Certificate.
• Previous experience working with school-age students, especially those with visual impairments.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability to work at different school sites and with a diverse group of students.
• Expertise in developing, documenting, and reporting on student progress according to IEP guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments, ranging from 2nd grade to high school.
• Assess, plan, and implement individualized O&M programs for each student in alignment with their IEP.
• Travel between multiple school sites within the district to fulfill student needs.
• Maintain thorough documentation, participate in IEP meetings, and communicate regularly with teachers, families, and support staff.
