American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 6-week ICU travel assignment in Berlin, VT, requiring a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

- 14-bed ICU within the UVM Health network, caring for an average daily census of 8–10 patients \n
- Adult patient population (18+) with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, ETOH withdrawal, OD/SI, CHF, dysrhythmias, NSTEMI, unstable angina, COVID, PE, and GI bleed \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 to 3:1 on both day and night shifts \n
- CNA/PCT support available (1 per shift, day and night); unit clerk/secretary available on day shift \n
- Pulmonologist available on day shift; respiratory therapy and anesthesia available 24/7 \n
- Ventilators managed by respiratory therapy \n
- Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Mindray bedside monitors, and Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps \n
- Medication system: Pyxis \n
- EMR: Epic \n
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week \n
- Schedule is Monday through Sunday based on unit needs; no block schedules \n
- Minimum every-other-weekend availability required; schedule adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs \n
- Floating required to med/surg (1:4 days, 1:5 nights) during low ICU census, and to the ER for ICU-level boarding patients \n
- No on-call or charge requirements \n
- Holiday coverage required as needed \n

- Active RN license; VT or compact state license required (NY candidates accepted with proof of pending NY license) \n
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required prior to start \n
- CCRN and AHA PALS certifications preferred \n
- Minimum 3 years of clinical ICU experience required \n
- Epic experience within the past 2 years required (non-negotiable) \n
- At least two professional references from a nurse manager and/or supervisor, with one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment \n
- SSN and DOB required for consideration \n
- All employment gaps greater than 90 days must be explained \n

- Unit procedures include medication titration, cardioversion assist, bronchoscopy, conscious/moderate sedation, intubation/extubation, RSI, telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation, blood administration, chest tube management, central/PICC/A-line management, PCA, wound care, pressure injury prevention, NG tube placement/management, and TPN \n
- ICU team is responsible for responding to rapid response calls, code blues, and OB critical responses hospital-wide; unit also accepts transfers from critical access hospitals in the area \n
- Facility does not have a cath lab, interventional radiology, neuro, ECMO, or dialysis capabilities \n
- 2-day orientation; facility math test and N-95 fit testing required \n
- Scrubs in any appropriate color; closed-toe shoes required \n
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires (November–April) is strongly recommended \n
- Local candidates are accepted; pay rates are tiered based on distance from facility (travel: 101+ miles, radius: 51–100 miles, local: 50 miles or less) \n
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required; first-time travelers will be considered \n
