American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level III Trauma facility in Berlin, VT, requiring at least 2 years of clinical experience and active telemetry skills.

- Work in a 51-bed Med/Surg with Telemetry unit at a 122-bed acute care, Level III Trauma facility in Berlin, VT \n
- Patient population includes telemetry monitoring, post-op ortho/urology/GI, COPD, CHF, diabetics, end-of-life, dementia, and general adult medical-surgical cases — essentially all non-psych, non-ICU, and non-OB patients \n
- Adult patient population \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3–5 patients on days, 4–6 on nights \n
- LNAs (CNAs/PCTs) assigned at a 1:8–10 ratio per shift \n
- Unit secretary on duty 6am–10pm most days \n
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7 with no patient assignment \n
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week \n
- Schedule runs Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling \n
- Every other weekend required, with schedule adjusted as needed to meet unit and patient care needs \n
- Floating to like units required, though infrequently \n
- No on-call requirements \n
- Holiday coverage required \n
- EMR: Epic (experience from within the past 2 years required) \n
- Medication system: Pyxis \n
- Equipment includes Sigma IV pumps, CAAD PCA pumps, Kangaroo tube feed pumps, GE EKG machines, Stryker beds, Mindray cardiac monitoring, and Hill-Rom nurse call systems \n
- Respiratory therapy and anesthesia available 24/7 for support \n

- Active RN license — VT or Compact state license accepted; NY candidates may be considered with proof of pending NY licensure included \n
- Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) required; NIHSS required prior to start \n
- Telemetry certification required \n
- Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience required; minimum 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry specialty required \n
- Active telemetry skills required: ability to apply leads, interpret rhythms, and take clinical action \n
- Competency with NG tube insertion and peripheral IV insertion required \n
- Epic experience within the past 2 years required — non-negotiable \n
- Must have completed 2 travel assignments in facilities with 300+ beds, OR have previous experience at a UVM Health Network acute care facility \n
- At least 2 professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — at least 1 from the past 6 months and 1 from within the past year of employment \n
- SSN and DOB required for consideration \n

- Bedside RN responsibilities include NG tube insertion, peripheral IV insertion, and real-time telemetry strip interpretation and response \n
- The unit operates as a tight-knit, collaborative team; RNs, LPNs, and LNAs work closely together and travelers are expected to integrate seamlessly with all care team members and communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers \n
- Orientation includes 1–2 precepted shifts in addition to time with nurse educators prior to independent patient contact \n
- Scheduling is managed through an online platform called When-to-Work, with schedules published by the manager in advance \n
- Scrubs are flexible — wear your own or use the facility's; professional appearance required with closed-toe, non-skid shoes; minimal jewelry; groomed hair/beard; no artificial nails \n
- Parking is free on-site \n
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a reliable personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended, as housing options may be located up to 15 minutes from the facility \n
- Pay rates are tiered based on distance from the facility (by direct line): travel rate for 101+ miles, radius rate for 51–100 miles, and local rate for 50 miles or less \n
