American Traveler is seeking an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level 1 Trauma, major teaching hospital in West Virginia, requiring a minimum of 2 years RN experience and a WV or Compact RN license.

- Work setting is a 24-bed Inpatient Medical Rehab unit (2S Med Rehab) within a large Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital (855 beds) \n
- Patient population includes cerebrovascular disease, TBI, amputees, spinal cord injuries, neurological diseases, and severe deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events \n
- Each patient is supported by a multidisciplinary care team including a physiatrist, NP, nurse, therapists, and a social worker; therapy occurs 3 hours/day Monday–Friday \n
- Average length of stay is approximately 2 weeks \n
- Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on days, 1:5–6 on nights \n
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), weekdays with every other weekend required \n
- No on-call requirement \n
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs \n
- Block schedule requests may be accommodated — discuss during interview \n
- Charting system is Cerner (experience required) \n
- Scrub colors are royal blue, white, or a combination of both \n
- \n
- Active WV or Compact RN license required prior to start; pending license may be accepted for initial consideration \n
- BLS certification required; must be through the American Heart Association (AHA) \n
- Acute care rehab certification preferred \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required \n
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient rehabilitation unit/hospital experience required \n
- Charge nurse experience preferred \n
- Cerner EMR experience required \n
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis \n
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration \n
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration \n
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemption with documented allergist or physician record accepted \n
- \n
- Provide rehabilitative nursing care to patients recovering from stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, amputation, neuromuscular disease, and severe deconditioning \n
- Skills utilized include IV therapy, blood/blood product administration, PICC line care, venous blood draws, tracheostomy care, wound care, feeding tube management, neurological assessment, orthopedic care, and cardiac monitoring \n
- Orientation is held every other Thursday \n
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply \n
- Former permanent employees of the Vandalia Health System (including this facility) must wait 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before being eligible for a travel contract; current perm, PRN, or other employees of the Vandalia Health System are not eligible \n
- No RTO restrictions; time-off requests should be included on the application and discussed during the interview \n
- Parking in the facility garage is complimentary for travelers \n
