About us: Altitude Pediatrics LLC. is a dedicated pediatric primary care office committed to providing exceptional healthcare to children from infancy through adolescence. Our team of compassionate professionals work collaboratively to ensure the well-being and healthy development of our young patients.
Job Summary: A medical assistant will assist healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care to our young patients, from infants to adolescents. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, recording vital signs, administering vaccinations, and providing support during medical procedures. The pediatric medical assistant will also educate families on health maintenance and assist with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
Clinical Duties:
HIPPA: understands and demonstrates HIPPA regulations and puts it into action.
Taking Vital Signs: Measuring and recording patients heights, weights, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rates, and pulse oximetry. Performing vision screens.
Patient Preparation: Preparing patients for appointments, examinations, explaining procedures, and assisting during exams. Recognizing what vitals, paperwork, vaccines, and screening labs the patient needs for the reason they are being seen.
Sample Collection: Drawing blood, collecting urine samples, and performing basic lab tests.
Phone calls: calling the correct patient to relay any results or information to pt that have been verified by a provider, updating patients/parents on any referrals or imaging they may be requesting, assisting with medication refills.
Triage: gathering all and any information for triage calls. Using resources (ClearTriage, Childrens App, BartSchmitt, Healthy Children .org, or provider) and relaying correct triage information to parents/patient and documenting information thoroughly and correctly.
Scheduling Appointments: knowing when and how to schedule appointments appropriately.
Reviewing Charts: reviewing a patient chart before rooming to prep for paperwork, vaccines, labs, and vitals. Also making sure all previous growth points and vaccines are entered into the chart correctly. Checking to see if patient is due/needs any in house labs (lead, hemoglobin, cholesterol, glucose, hemoccult, urines,)
Extra Responsibilities: nurse visits as needed, stocking rooms, ensure a clean and sanitary environment by performing cleaning duties as required, checking temperatures on vaccine fridges/freezers, checking provider boxes and completing paper work including school forms (general health appraisals, medication, allergy, asthma, seizure forms), assessing/completing faxes from other clinics , etc., cleaning/sterilizing/packaging tools, performing basic autoclave maintenance, assist with procedures, prepare lab/radiology orders, help schedule stat radiology orders, participating with flu clinics in the fall, performing EKGs, performing asthma education, and using suction as needed.
Administrative Duties:
Scheduling appointments: Managing appointments and follow-ups
Medical Records: Updating and maintaining accurate patient records
Communication: Acting as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers and other back-office staff, answering phones, and responding to inquiries
General Duties:
Other duties as assigned
Qualification/Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical Assistant or EMT license required or able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
BLS Certificate preferred
LPN Consideration:
Candidates with an active LPN license are encouraged to apply.
- This position is classified as a Medical Assistant role.
- LPN knowledge and experience will be utilized, however duties will remain within Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- The role does not function in a licensed nursing capacity.
- Compensation is based on experience and role alignment.
Workdays:
Monday - Friday
Some Saturdays, additional pay applies
