Job Overview

Optimal EV is looking for an experienced Certified Welder to support the fabrication and assembly of commercial electric vehicles. This position is responsible for producing accurate, structurally sound welds while following prints, specifications, quality standards, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities
  • Read and understand assembly prints, blueprints, and welding specifications.
  • Measure and cut materials according to required dimensions.
  • Shape, fit, and modify metal components as needed for production.
  • Select the correct welding process and materials for joining metal components.
  • Inspect completed work to confirm it meets blueprint tolerances and structural requirements.
  • Use hand tools, files, electrodes, hammers, clamps, jigs, and other welding equipment.
  • Assist with shop organization and assembly-line modifications.
  • Keep the welding area clean, safe, and organized.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Two to five years of welding experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly.
  • Experience in specialty vehicle manufacturing is preferred.
  • Electric vehicle experience is a plus.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or process improvement is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of metallurgy and material properties.
  • Knowledge of multiple welding methods, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • Strong communication skills and dependable attendance.
  • Previous experience working in a start-up environment is a plus.
  • Must successfully complete a weld test.
