About this job
Full-Time Cook (Line Cook/Prep Cook)
Clairmont Place is looking for an experienced, dependable, positive, and well-organized cook to join our Dining Services team. We are a close-knit, supportive retirement community where relationships matter just as much as the meals we prepare.
If you're looking for a rewarding cooking career with a supportive team, meaningful work, and a schedule that allows for a better work-life balance, we'd love to meet you.
One of the perks of working at Clairmont Place is our schedule. Unlike many restaurant kitchens, there are no late-night shifts, and we close early on the weekends, giving you more time to enjoy your evenings and weekends with family and friends while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Benefits
- Paid Time Off (two weeks per year for full-time employees)
- Eight paid holidays each year (double-time pay if you work a holiday)
- Employee Assistance Program offering free counseling, legal assistance, financial resources, and other support for you and members of your household
About Clairmont Place
Clairmont Place is a nonprofit condominium community for independent adults age 55 and older, with an Assisted Living home on campus.
As an Eden Alternative community, we believe meals are about more than food, they are an opportunity to build relationships, create meaningful moments, and help our residents feel at home. We take pride in serving delicious, nutritious, home-style meals while creating a warm and welcoming dining experience.
In addition to daily dining service, our team helps create memorable experiences through coffee chats, themed dinners, cocktail parties, movie nights, holiday celebrations, and ice cream socials. We love bringing people together and making life engaging for our Elders.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
- At least three years of experience in high-volume cooking, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or a similar setting
- A positive, flexible, team-oriented attitude
- A passion for preparing quality food and providing excellent hospitality
- The ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety
- Strong knife skills and attention to detail
- A dependable work ethic and excellent attendance
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with older adults, treats everyone with kindness and respect, and understands that every meal is an opportunity to make someone's day a little brighter.
Our menus support healthy aging through nutritious, heart-healthy cooking, so following recipes, dietary guidelines, and food safety standards is essential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality meals according to recipes and production schedules
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with inventory, food storage, and stock rotation
- Support special events and resident activities
- Work collaboratively with the Dining Services team to provide an outstanding dining experience
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Food Handler certification (or the ability to obtain one)
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Culinary degree is a plus but not required
At Clairmont Place, you'll be part of a team that values kindness, collaboration, and creating meaningful experiences every day. If you're ready to use your culinary skills to make a difference in the lives of older adults, we'd love to hear from you.
