If you enjoy making sure the construction shop is clean and organized, we have a great full time opportunity for you! Our Lamar office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is now hiring a new Shop Coordinator to help us enhance the outdoor advertising in Baton Rouge, LA and the surrounding areas.

The purpose of this position is to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the billboard construction shop as well as preparing billboard vinyl for installation and assisting Operations employees with billboard installation preparations as needed.

What we are looking for in YOU:

  • General knowledge of Lamar, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations
  • Ability to safely use welding and torching equipment, in regards to the construction and maintenance of outdoor structures is preferred
  • Ability to safely use construction and vegetation equipment, in regards to the construction and maintenance of outdoor structures
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical procedures and techniques
  • Skill in the practical applications of mathematics
  • Ability to keep a shop clean and organized
  • Ability to drive safely in a company vehicle

Education and experience:

Required:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Ability to complete OSHA 10-hour Construction course required
  • Ability to complete Lamar’s forklift training is required, based on location need
  • A commercial driver's license CDL or Non-CDL is preferred, based on location need

Preferred:

  • Carpentry skills

A day in the life:

Responsible for completing all work in the shop and yard in a timely manner:

  •  Keeping the shop and yard clean and organized.
  • Preparing billboard and "Flex" vinyl for Retro Poster installations (including standing for extended periods to unfold/cut vinyl, insert gripper rods, and roll/stack them in order of installation).
  •  Managing used vinyl recycling: baling, palletizing, shrink wrapping, and using a forklift to stack palletized bales for shipment.
  • Preparing and stocking work trucks with the required tools and supplies for common installations.

Responsible for inventory management, shipping, and receiving:

  • Keeping track of and managing inventory for shop supplies and installation materials for Posters and Bulletin billboards.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing shipping and receiving.

Responsible for equipment maintenance:

  • Performing in-house maintenance and routine upkeep on work trucks, vegetation equipment, shop tools, and construction equipment.

Responsible for building and facility maintenance:

  •  General maintenance to the Lamar office buildings, shop, and surrounding plant site (including painting, cleaning walls, and vegetation control as needed).

Additional Operational Support:

  • Demonstrating knowledge and experience with hand and power tools while following directions and collaborating effectively with the team.
  • Performing occasional field work to assist crews on various projects as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The primary work environment for this position is inside a shop and outdoors
  • The physical demands for this position include heavy lifting, reaching, seeing (with a focus on reading, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, walking, and climbing
  • Nights spent traveling, away from home, are less than 10%
