Fabrication Helper

(Mobile, Alabama): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Fabricator Helper for an immediate hire in Mobile, Alabama.

Primary Job Duties:
• Perform grooving and pipe cutting in our covered fabrication shop.
• Utilizes prints to fabricate sprinkler system components to be installed by field crews.
• Performs grooving and cutting on carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe with a grooving machine and plasma cutter.
• Maintains high quality work and performs other duties within the Fabrication Shop or other department as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and utilize a measuring tape, blueprints, and work packets to construct materials
• Ability to utilize basic shop math 

• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 65lbs
• Ability to utilize hand tools such as wrenches, socket sets, and a grinder
• Demonstrates strong commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment
• Solid decision making and problem-solving skills and good communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently
• Strong work ethic, desire for a long-term career, and commitment to continuous improvement
• Willingness to assist with other duties in the Fabrication Shop or other departments as requested
• Ability to perform physical labor in safety sensitive environments.
• Ability to maneuver self around the fabrication shop, around cutting machines, grooving machines, welding machines, and other heavy equipment/machinery with moving parts.
• Ability to work in close proximity to bright and uneven/flickering light from welding flashing and sparks from the plasma cutter.
• Ability to operate a plasma cutter, grooving machines, and other heavy equipment/machinery with moving parts.
• Ability to wear PPE such as ear plugs, safety glasses, gloves, and steel toe shoes for long periods of time.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk on uneven concrete surfaces for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, push, pull, and/or carry 40-60lbs frequently
• Ability to repetitively grasp, push, pull, and manipulate fine objects with both hands, and to reach above shoulder level occasionally
• Ability to withstand mild to moderate exposure to changes in temperature or humidity, and dust, fumes, and gases.
• Ability to pass post-offer and random drug screens
• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to drive forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
• Ability to perform all these duties on any medications that are prescribed, and in safety sensitive environments.

Desired Qualifications:
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Fabrication shop experience
• Plasma cutter experience
• Experience banding and/or crating materials
• Experience with threading machines, power tools, forklifts, and/or other powered lifting devices a plus
• Technical program degree or certificate a plus
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
• Ability to obtain a forklift certification, trained and certified in safe and proper forklift operations
• Comfort utilizing computer systems and capable of learning and utilizing company operating systems
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced fabricators
