Director of Nursing – Happy Health Center Adult Day Health

Happy Health Center is an Adult Day Health program dedicated to providing exceptional care for adults 18+, seniors, and individuals with disabilities—including those with Alzheimer's or other dementias. We deliver personal care, medication management, therapeutic activities, and meaningful socialization in a safe, nurturing environment. The Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical leadership for all nursing operations at Happy Health Center. This role ensures participants receive high-quality, person-centered care in compliance with Massachusetts state regulations and program standards. The DON will conduct assessments and assist with program approvals for new participants. The DON supervises nursing staff, collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, and fosters a supportive environment for both participants and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight: Direct, evaluate, and coordinate all nursing services; ensure care plans are developed, implemented, and updated according to each participant's needs.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing personnel; promote ongoing professional development.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing adult day health programs; prepare for and participate in inspections and audits.
- Quality Improvement: Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality assurance initiatives to continually enhance participant care and safety.
- Care Coordination: Communicate effectively with participants, families, physicians, and community partners; serve as a clinical resource and advocate.
- Medication Management: Oversee medication administration, documentation, and storage in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Budget & Resources: Assist in developing and managing the nursing department budget; ensure adequate supplies and equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and ensure timely completion of all required documentation.
- Co-ordinate with the outreach team on the enrollment process for new participants; initial assessments, provider and insurance approvals, and necessary follow-up.
Required:
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Knowledge of adult day health, long-term care, or geriatric care settings preferred
- Strong understanding of Massachusetts DPH regulations and compliance standards
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office software
Preferred:
- Experience working with individuals with dementia or developmental disabilities
- Bi-lingual is a plus but not a requirement
