Peoplelink Staffing, in partnership with a prominent Automotive Manufacturer in the Elkmont, AL area, is seeking Facility Maintenance Technicians to join their team!
Job Summary:
  • Pay: $35-40/hr DOE
Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Technician ensures a safe, compliant, and high-performing manufacturing environment by focusing on:
  • Daily Coordination: Manage both immediate, reactive repairs and scheduled preventive upkeep.
  • System Maintenance: Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and installed building systems (including fire and security alarms).
  • Operational Reliability: Keeping the facility running smoothly to support uninterrupted production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing and other building systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC and facility infrastructure issues.
  • Repair or replace faulty wiring, plumbing fixtures, clogged drains, ceiling tiles and other damaged building components.
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, wall repair and general facility upkeep.
  • Respond quickly to assembly line breakdowns to diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic failures.
  • Read and interpret blue prints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic flow charts to pinpoint system issues.
  • Service and troubleshoot multi-axis robotic systems used for welding, painting, or material handling.
  • Lubricate and clean machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Support production, industrialization and maintenance teams with the construction or repair of racks and related systems.
  • Ensure the facility complies with applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Complete maintenance logs, work orders and repair documentation.
  • Order and maintain necessary supplies, tools and spare parts.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from employees and building users.
  • Coordinate with and oversee outside contractors performing specialized repairs or inspections.
  • Support hazardous waste management, including identification, storage, handling and preparation for recycling or disposal.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Minimize downtime of critical building systems through proactive maintenance.
• Complete preventive maintenance and assigned work orders on schedule.
• Maintain accurate inspection certificates, maintenance records and compliance documentation.
• Track required annual facility inspections, including compressors, fire extinguishers, ladders and related equipment.
• Identify qualified service providers and monitor inspections through completion.
• Ensure repairs are effective, durable and compliant with legal, regulatory and company standards.
• Maintain required OSHA, hazardous materials and transportation related certifications.
• Support facility layout changes while maintaining production efficiency and safety compliance.
• Follow company Quality, Safety and Environmental policies and objectives.
• Identify and report safety concerns immediately.
• Use the company maintenance system to schedule preventive maintenance and retain technical documents and reports.
Hazardous Waste Responsibilities
• Maintain knowledge of applicable hazardous waste requirements.
• Support or complete hazardous waste determinations.
• Package, store and move hazardous waste to approved onsite storage areas.
• Determine appropriate disposal or recycling routes.
• Support compliance with local, Alabama and federal environmental regulations.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to five years of hands on experience in one or more skilled trades, such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing or carpentry.
• Strong troubleshooting and general repair abilities.
• Self motivated, alert and detail oriented.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft applications and computerized maintenance records.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred or required, with renewals supported by EFI.
• RCRA and DOT hazardous materials training preferred or required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the workday.
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and push or pull equipment.
• Ability to reach above shoulder level.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around moving machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in climate controlled and ESD controlled areas.
