Diesel Technician Responsibilities
- Diagnose, document, and repair engine, transmission, and major component fault codes using OEM software and diagnostic tools.
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, chassis components, and aftertreatment systems.
- Complete preventative maintenance and vehicle reconditioning.
- Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Attend OEM and dealership training programs, both online and in person, as required.
- Maintain accurate repair documentation and follow warranty procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a diesel technician, fleet mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or equivalent.
- Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, drivability, chassis, and aftertreatment systems.
- Experience using OEM diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools.
- Formal diesel training and OEM certifications preferred.
- Cummins and Allison certifications are highly desirable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
