Special Education Teacher in Hosmer, SD

Key Qualifications:

• Certified Special Education Teacher with current credentials.
• Experience or strong interest in working with K-12+ populations.
• Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and individualized instruction.
• Comfortable adapting curriculum for varied cognitive and behavioral needs.
• Collaborative approach to working with instructional teams, paraprofessionals, and families.
• Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.

Position Details:

• Serve approximately 15 students with varying exceptionalities.
• Work with grades K-12+ in a supportive, small school setting.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans.
• Use diverse instructional strategies and classroom management techniques suited to disability categories.
• Collaborate with general educators and support staff to ensure student accommodations are provided.
• Engage in regular data collection and progress reporting.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom climate.
• Contract position beginning August 18th, 2026, and ending May 20th, 2027.
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM.
