PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support our client, an industry leader in food and nutrition manufacturing, at their Aurora, Illinois facility. What You'll Do

As a Facilities Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing environment. Your expertise will help ensure building systems remain operational while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility systems including:

    • HVAC systems

    • Plumbing systems

    • Electrical and lighting systems

    • Boilers and hot water systems

    • Warehouse equipment

    • Furniture and building systems

  • Complete preventive maintenance and repair work orders through the CMMS while meeting safety and quality standards.

  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and implementing long-term corrective actions.

  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Breakdown Analysis (BDA) initiatives.

  • Order parts and materials for preventive maintenance and repair activities.

  • Coordinate emergency part pickups and maintain purchasing documentation.

  • Conduct safety orientations for outside contractors and ensure compliance with facility safety requirements.

  • Inspect and maintain life safety systems including fire alarms, emergency lighting, exit signage, and fire protection equipment.

  • Plan, organize, and follow through on facility improvement projects.

  • Provide responsive customer service to employees requiring building maintenance support.

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain compliance with GMP requirements while working in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Complete additional maintenance duties as assigned.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of facilities or building maintenance experience, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and building systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.

  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Arc Flash safety, and PPE requirements.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, attendance, and quality.

  • Must have personal hand tools.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, walking, standing, and working throughout a manufacturing facility.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical school education.

  • Experience using CMMS platforms such as SAP or UpKeep.

  • Basic knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and NFPA 79 standards.

  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis methodologies.

  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Pay Details: $35.00 per hour
