Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support payroll and core accounting operations for an organization in Black Hawk, Colorado. This Contract position is expected to run for 3 to 4 months, with the possibility of extension, and requires onsite work Monday through Thursday. The role will focus on accurate payroll administration, financial reporting, reconciliations, and cross-functional accounting support within the Finance Department.
Responsibilities:
• Administer bi-weekly and monthly payroll activities, ensuring employee payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Review and verify timesheet records to confirm compliance with internal policies and payroll requirements.
• Reconcile payroll-related balances to the general ledger and prepare supporting reports for accounting records.
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate account variances to maintain accurate financial data.
• Record journal entries and assist with month-end reporting and other routine financial close activities.
• Support annual audit preparation by organizing documentation and responding to finance-related requests.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including updates for acquisitions, disposals, and related tracking.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, and check request processing with proper coding and backup.
• Provide accounting and payroll assistance to internal departments and help users navigate system-related questions when needed.
• Demonstrated experience processing payroll across multiple pay cycles for a workforce of 100 or more employees.• Background in government accounting or fund accounting environments.
• Hands-on experience with payroll and accounting platforms, preferably ADP Workforce Now or Tyler Enterprise.
• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
• Proven ability to perform account and bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in a finance setting that requires attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to support multiple accounting priorities effectively.
