IHC Kokomo is now recruiting for an experienced Dental Hygienist to join our team. The Dental Hygienist plays a crucial role in achieving IHC’s mission of client satisfaction, quality care, and productivity. This position involves providing high-quality dental care, educating patients on preventive care techniques, and working with dentists to develop treatment plans and diagnose oral diseases.

Clinic Hours of Operation:
Monday - 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday - 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday - 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday - 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Saturday (every other) - 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Dental Hygienist role responsibilities include:
Patient Care:
- Performing routine treatment procedures such as cleaning, polishing, application of sealants and fluorides.
- Taking and developing dental x-rays.
- Developing, with the dentist’s input, treatment plans for patient and performing patient education, as needed.
- Assisting dentist in performance of special tests, procedures, and complex treatments.
- Making impressions of patients’ teeth for study casts.
Charting and Room Maintenance:
- Completing dental charting.
- Documenting lab procedures and ensuring follow up on results.
- Assisting in preparation of dental treatment rooms for the next patient, assisting in sterilization of dental instruments and equipment.
Professional Development:
- Keep current on latest techniques and tools of dental hygiene.
- Must complete all requirements to maintain an access practice agreement with an IHC Dentist.
- Mentor and teach Expanded Function Dental Assistants, especially on new or emerging techniques and tools of dental hygiene.
Required skills:

- Accurately perform mathematic calculations.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of patients, including children.

- Demonstrate positive customer service skills.
- Perform a full range of established dental hygienist protocol and procedures.
- Independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontal, and associated conditions and pathology in dental patients.
- Demonstrate understanding of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology and techniques.
- Demonstrate knowledge of specialized terminology related to dental documentation and electronic medical records systems.
- Demonstrate ability to apply set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrate mastery of the administrative practices, policies, and regulations related to dental records, primarily HIPAA.
- Recommend changes to existing clinic procedures based on new or emerging dental hygiene procedures or practices.
- Juggle and meet multiple requests and deadlines.
- Take initiative and need little supervision.
- Perform and coach others on standard work relating to quality and compliance.
- Recognize and suggest alternate methods or processes the may need improving.
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Degree in Dental Hygiene.
- Current Dental Hygiene license in the state of Indiana.
