About this job
Job Description
AT Process Technologies (ATP) is a pioneering manufacturing company focused on the development and deployment of modular energetics production plants. Using breakthrough chemistry and automation that operates continuously and generates little to no waste, ATP is expanding energetics production to meet the munitions demands of the US and Allies safely, rapidly, and cost effectively.
Summary
ATP is building a core team of engineers to work alongside our Process and Chemistry R&D teams to develop an autonomous skidded system for next-generation energetics manufacturing. In this role you will own and deliver a subsystem from concept through commissioning. The ideal candidate has previously owned a critical project end-to-end (design, build, and execution) and brings the engineering fundamentals to solve a wide range of problems quickly and rigorously.
Key Responsibilities
Own the mechanical design and development of subsystem-level hardware from concept through pilot testing and production
Design and fabricate reactors and other continuous process systems.
Work alongside a team of mechanical and process engineers to design, build, test, and commission hardware
Collaborate with automation and controls engineers on integrated system development
Lead hands-on testing, hardware iteration, and rapid prototyping based on performance feedback
Drive manufacturability, part selection, and tolerance stack-up decisions for scalable production
Conduct engineering analysis including stress, thermal, and fluid modeling; perform DFM and DFMEA
Evaluate vendors, lead design reviews, and validate compliance and performance
Contribute to test plans, technical documentation, and engineering reviews
Travel to ATP sites, customer locations, and vendor facilities as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
5+ years of professional experience in hardware design and development
Strong proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD tools (Siemens NX, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
Demonstrated application of mechanical fundamentals - structural, thermal, and materials - to deliver robust, well-engineered designs
Demonstrated experience owning hands-on, end-to-end hardware development efforts (industry projects, FSAE, Design-Build-Fly, rocketry teams, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
5-10 years of relevant industry experience
Background in robotics, PLCs, mechatronics, or process development
Experience with continuous processes and manufacturing
Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python, C++, or similar)
Experience designing hardware for reactive, hazardous, or energetic chemistries
Additional Requirements
Ability to lift 50 lbs
U.S. Person and ability to obtain a security clearance
ITAR Requirements
This position requires access to information and technology protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). To conform to these regulations, applicants must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 CFR § 120.62, which includes (i) U.S. citizens or nationals, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent residents (green card holders), (iii) refugees under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylees under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.
Compensation Range: $120K - $180K
