Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients across the lifespan, with focus on women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days old.
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized plans of care; set priorities for nursing actions; coordinate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Administer medications and IV fluids according to policy; manage narcotics and controlled substances per policy; document administration and patient response.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, document care plans, interventions, and outcomes; communicate effectively with patients, families, and physicians.
- Lead and supervise care delivery as needed; delegate tasks to other care team members under RN supervision; provide patient and family education.
- Maintain unit and patient care areas in a clean, safe environment; ensure accurate handoffs and thorough shift reports.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Certification/designation: RN II, Women’s Care Unit (AHCL)
- Ability to work nights on a 3x12-hour schedule
- Demonstrated ability to care for patients across the infant-to-geriatric age range and to handle emergency situations promptly and professionally
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to work in a high-acuity care setting and perform duties as outlined in unit policies and procedures
