Certified Registered Nurse

Our Client is a nonprofit regional healthcare trade organization representing more than 50 hospitals and health systems (rural, small community safety-net providers to large, academic medical centers), spanning over 28,000 square miles, across 32 counties of Upstate NY.

Our client is seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant to support surgeons during operations and assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care. This role requires strong surgical knowledge, manual dexterity, and the ability to work well under pressure in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and prepare surgical plans and patient history preoperatively
• Prepare the surgical field and assist in patient positioning and prepping
• Ensure the availability and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies. Assist in draping the surgical site
• Communicate surgical plan with RN and certified surgical tech
• Provide exposure of operative site using retractors and tools intraoperatively
• Control bleeding by clamping, ligating, or cauterizing blood vessels
• Handle tissues, cut sutures, and perform wound closure
• Suction, irrigate, or sponge operative site as needed
• Assist with robotic, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive procedures
• Monitor patient vital signs under surgeon or anesthesiologist direction
• Apply surgical dressings and assist patient transfer to recovery postoperatively
• Ensure all instruments and materials are accounted for
• Document operative procedures and observations accurately
• Participate in postoperative patient assessments and wound care
• Schedule and Shift Details Work shift from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM with on-call availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Associate degree or higher
• Perioperative/Surgical Services (2+ years)
• ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications:
  • CRNFA in New York (NY)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) in New York (NY)
  • Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in New York (NY)
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Salary: $90,750.40
