Job Description
Overview
Burkhardt is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Surveyor to join our land surveying team. Project Surveyors are responsible for researching, preparing and reviewing survey drawings, exhibits, and legal descriptions for a variety of survey projects including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right-of-Way and Utility Surveys, FEMA Certifications, As-Built Surveys and Construction Staking.
Responsibilities
- Perform courthouse research to obtain deeds, plats, right-of-way plans, easement documents, and other land surveying related documents.
- Prepare and review survey drawings, exhibits, legal descriptions and seal documents as needed.
- Review zoning codes and design subdivisions and plats to meet jurisdictional requirements.
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D to produce various survey drawings and base maps from raw survey data and property research, including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right-of-Way and Utility Services, and As-Built Surveys.
- Review and process survey field data using Trimble Business Center software.
- Research and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction to understand approval and recording processes.
- Coordinate work with internal and external project team members and manage subconsultants.
- Attend project meetings with clients, planning commission hearings, and council or commissioner meetings as required to obtain survey project approvals.
- Review construction drawings and prepare control and point files for survey field team to execute construction layout.
- Coordinate with team members and jurisdictional reviewers to incorporate feedback and revise survey drawings as needed.
- Ensure Burkhardt standards for quality are being met, review drawings for accuracy, clarity and jurisdictional compliance.
Education / Skills / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in land surveying, civil engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of six (6) years of land surveying experience, including at least two (2) years of experience performing boundary resolutions and preparing survey drawings.
- Professional Licensure (P.S. required).
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft 365 products.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center (preferred).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proactive and engaging with a strong attention to detail.
