Job Summary
We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform landscaping, groundskeeping, and general maintenance duties at an airport facility. The role involves operating landscaping equipment, maintaining airport grounds, repairing fences, and assisting during airport emergencies while following FAA safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mowers, edgers, blowers, spreaders, and clippers.
- Mow grass, trim vegetation, and remove weeds.
- Pick up trash, debris, and sweep sand or gravel.
- Dig trenches and clean drainage ditches.
- Repair and install fencing as required.
- Operate maintenance vehicles and equipment on airport grounds.
- Work on ramps, taxiways, runways, and safety areas.
- Assist airport staff during emergency situations.
- Report maintenance and safety issues to supervisors.
- Follow FAA safety and airport operational procedures.
- Perform general groundskeeping and manual labor duties.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of landscaping, grounds maintenance, or manual labor experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a Federal fingerprint-based background check.
- Ability to complete FAA Security Standards training and pass the required exam (70% minimum).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous landscaping experience.
- Experience operating lawn maintenance equipment.
- Experience performing physically demanding outdoor work.

- Ability to safely operate airport maintenance vehicles.

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work on uneven terrain and unstable ground.
