Fabrication Associate Job Description:

PrideStaff is working with a local manufacturing facility who is seeking Fabricators & Welders to join their team. The Associate will deliver high quality, customized metal components and structural supports configured for precise fittings.

The ideal fabricators and welders are categorized by their primary process expertise. Candidates who pass multiple weld tests (e.g., MIG + TIG on stainless/aluminum) are eligible for higher starting pay tiers.

The ideal Fabricator and Welder has minimum 1 to 3 years of industrial/shop welding experience (MIG, TIG, or Dual Shield)

Testing: Must be able to pass an in-shop hands-on weld test for your primary process (e.g., T-joint fillet, groove weld, or visual inspection test).

Tools: Own basic PPE (Hard hat helmet, steel-toed boots) and basic hand tools (tape measure, squares, slag hammer). Note: Shop tools may or may not be provided.

Physical: Able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs consistently throughout a 10-hour shift in a typical desert-climate shop environment.

Language: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand structural fabrication drawings and safety signage.

Fabricator & Welder Associate Duties & Responsibilities:

Read and Interpret Specifications: Analyze blueprints, engineering drawings, welding symbols, and shop work orders to accurately plan the layout, cutting, and assembly sequence of each project.

Material Preparation and Cutting: Set up and safely operate shop fabrication machinery—including band saws, ironworkers, shears, and plasma cutters—to cut and prep steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials to exact dimensions.

Parts Assembly and Fit-Up: Align, clamp, and square workpieces using jigs, fixtures, framing squares, and hand tools to ensure precise fit-up and dimensional tolerance before final welding.

Execute Structural and Sheet Metal Welding: Perform high-quality MIG, TIG, or Dual Shield welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions on various metal thicknesses, ensuring deep penetration and structural integrity.

Post-Weld Finishing and Quality Control: Visually inspect all finished welds for defects (such as porosity, cracks, or undercut) and utilize grinders, sanders, and polishers to clean, deburr, and finish products to required cosmetic or sanitary standards.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily safety inspections and basic preventative maintenance on welding machines, torches, wire feeders, and shielding gas regulators to prevent downtime.

Maintain Workspace Safety: Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards while strictly adhering to all company safety protocols and OSHA standards, including the proper use of PPE.

Collaborate and Problem-Solve: Work closely with the shop foreman, estimators, and fellow fabricators to troubleshoot design challenges, minimize material waste, and ensure projects are completed on schedule.

  • Must be 18+ Years Old
  • Must be Willing to Submit to a Pre-Employment Background Check
  • Must be Willing to Submit to a Drug Screen
  • Must be Able to Provide Proof of Eligibility to Work in The U.S.
