Instructional Assistant - Prince George, Virginia

Make an impact by supporting a medically fragile student in a dedicated 1:1 Paraprofessional position within a reputable school setting near Prince George, VA. This role begins with a 9-week trial period from 8/24 to 10/23, with the strong possibility to continue throughout the full academic year. You’ll work 32 hours per week, becoming an important pillar of support for a student requiring special medical care and daily assistance in their educational journey.

What You’ll Bring:

• Valid Virginia Paraprofessional license or an Associate’s Degree/higher (Required—please submit proof with your application)
• Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting
• Strong comfort level and proven ability caring for medically fragile children, including responding to seizures, operating wheelchairs, and performing toileting and hygiene assistance
• A calm, compassionate, and patient demeanor, even in challenging or emergency situations
• Communication and teamwork skills to collaborate closely with teachers, nurses, and parents

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated, individualized care and educational support to one student throughout the school day
• Monitor and respond to medical needs, intervene appropriately in the event of a seizure or other health event
• Assist with physical mobility, wheelchair transfers, positioning, and related needs
• Help with toileting, feeding, and hygiene while maintaining student dignity
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
• Document care and report observations to the educational and healthcare teams
