Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Production Hardware Technician for a cutting-edge augmented reality technology client. This individual will play a critical role in bringing advanced hardware products from prototype to production by assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing high-reliability electronic systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on electronics manufacturing experience, excels at precision soldering and wire harness fabrication, and enjoys working closely with engineering teams during the prototype phase to identify and solve manufacturing challenges.

 

Day-to-Day:

  • Assemble electronic components, circuit boards, wire harnesses, and final assemblies
  • Perform precision soldering, crimping, and cable/wire harness manufacturing
  • Conduct functional testing and inspection of assemblies
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rework electronic assemblies as needed
  • Support engineering teams with prototypes, system builds, debugging, and process development
  • Identify manufacturing issues during prototype builds and provide feedback for improvements
  • Document test results, repairs, non-conformances, and production activities
  • Assist with inventory management, shipping, and receiving activities
  • Help establish and improve manufacturing processes as the first Production Technician on the team
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory production environment

 

Must-Haves:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3-6 years of experience in electronics assembly or production in an aerospace or high reliability environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies, diagnostic equipment, and troubleshooting techniques for electronic systems.
  • Experience building and manufacturing wire harnesses
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation
  • Experience assembling electronic components, circuit boards, and wiring systems
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling small components
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Ability to wear multiple hats across production, inventory, shipping/receiving, and engineering support functions

 

Plusses:

  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 Certification
  • Strong soldering experience, including soldering small components under a microscope
  • Experience with PCBA manufacturing, rework, and repair
  • Prototype build experience and working closely with engineering teams
  • Experience documenting non-conformances, repairs, and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
  • Knowledge of ESD handling and safe material handling practices
  • Mechanical assembly experience
