Instructional Assistant - Northampton, Pennsylvania

Make a real impact as a paraprofessional working 1:1 with a student in a Life Skills program. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 21, 2026, to June 4, 2027, and offers the chance to support a student with autism who benefits from a consistent daily routine. The position is based near Northampton, PA, with hours approximately from 7:15am to 3pm (subject to slight adjustment).

Key Qualifications:

• Experience working as a paraprofessional in a school setting
• Strong background supporting students with autism and behavioral needs
• Demonstrated familiarity with managing maximum behavior and implementing behavior intervention strategies
• Comfortable with a 1:1 caseload, maintaining close supervision and support throughout the school day
• Ability to stay composed and respond effectively when routines change or when students attempt to leave the classroom or building
• Professional, reliable, and adaptable to changing school environments

Responsibilities:

• Provide engaged, compassionate support to one student as part of the Life Skills program
• Supervise the student throughout the school day, keeping routines consistent and supporting participation in classroom activities
• Monitor and proactively help prevent elopement or risk behaviors, ensuring student safety
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and support teams
• Adapt strategies as needed to meet the student's evolving needs and maintain a positive, structured environment
