Location: Shelby, NC (201 E. Grover St, Shelby, NC 28150)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 12-Hour Night Shift (36 Hours/Week) | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend

- Level III Trauma Center
- Certified Chest Pain Center
- Stroke Center
- Non-Teaching Hospital
- Traveler's permanent residence must be more than 50 miles from the home unit.
- 32-Bed MedSurg/Telemetry Unit
- Average Daily Census: 32 Patients
- Minimum Experience Required: 18 Months of MedSurg/Telemetry RN Experience
- First-Time Travelers Accepted
Patients commonly admitted to the unit include:
- Stroke Patients
- Respiratory Illnesses
- Influenza
- Pneumonia
- COVID-19
- Renal Failure
- Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
- Wound Care Patients
- General Medical and Telemetry Patients
- Typical Ratio: 1:5–1:6
- Surge Staffing: Up to 1:7–1:8
- Typical Ratio: 1:5–1:6
- Surge Staffing: Up to 1:7–1:8
- 1:10
- Active RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Candidates must possess experience with:
- Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation
- Non-Titrating Cardiac Drips
- Cardizem
- Amiodarone
- Wound Care
- Drain and Tube Management
- Peripheral IV Starts
- Central Line Management
- General MedSurg and Telemetry Nursing Care
- CNA Support
- ADLs
- Feeding Assistance
- Mobility Assistance
- Charge Nurse
- May or may not have a patient assignment
- Phlebotomy Services
- IV/Vascular Access Team
- Respiratory Therapy Available 24/7
- Hospitalist Coverage 24/7
- Intensivist Coverage 24/7
- Telemetry Monitoring Technicians
The unit utilizes virtual nursing technology with 10 camera systems.
Virtual RNs can assist with:
- Second RN Medication Verification
- Enhanced Patient Monitoring
- Admission Processes
- Discharge Processes
- Additional Patient Support Functions
- Epic
- IV Pumps Available
- Medication Dispensing System Available
- Cardiac Monitoring Equipment Available
- Virtual Nursing Observation (VNO) System
Travelers must be willing to float within Region 3 based on staffing needs.
Potential float locations include:
- Cleveland
- Kings Mountain
- Lincoln
- Central Division
- CMC Main
- Mercy
- LCH
- Employee remains on the clock
- Paid travel time between facilities
Candidates unwilling to float within Region 3 should not be submitted.
OrientationHospital Orientation- New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- 2 Days of Unit-Specific Orientation
- 12-Hour Night Shift
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 Hours Per Week
- Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Every 6 Weeks
- No scheduled call
- Possibility of low census call
- Night Shift: May be called back until 3:00 AM
- Day Shift: May be called back until 3:00 PM
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 Days May Be Approved
- Holidays cannot be included in approved RTO
- Contract may be extended if needed to satisfy contracted hours
- Clinical Interview Required
- Final Interview Conducted by Hiring Manager
