Skid Steer/Forklift Operator (Paper Team)

Location: Byron Center, MI

Shift: 2nd shift: 4:00 pm to 3:30 am Monday-Fridays

Pay: $20.00/hr (Dependent on Experience)

Are you an experienced equipment operator who takes pride in working safely and efficiently? We’re seeking a Forklift / Skid Steer Operator to join our team in Byron Center, MI. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting paper processing operations by safely operating forklifts and skid steers to move, load, and handle materials. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and isn’t afraid to get a little dusty.

As a Forklift / Skid Steer Operator, your core responsibilities will include:

Operating forklifts safely: Transport, load, and unload materials and finished products throughout the facility and from trucks or trailers.
Using a skid steer with attachments: Shred paper materials, move loads efficiently, and assist in material processing operations.
Maintaining organization and safety: Stack and store materials securely, perform daily equipment checks, and follow all safety and PPE protocols.

In addition, you will also be expected to assist with manual material handling up to 50 lbs., support production operations as needed, and participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and safety.

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2–3 years of experience safely operating a forklift and/or skid steer.
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Must be comfortable working in a very dusty environment.

Skills:
Equipment Operation: Proficient in operating forklifts and skid steers safely and efficiently in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Mechanical Aptitude: Capable of inspecting and maintaining equipment to ensure peak performance.
Attention to Detail: Ensures materials are handled accurately and safely to prevent damage or delays.
Teamwork & Communication: Works collaboratively with team members to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
Adaptability: Willing to take on new tasks and assist in other production areas as needed.
