Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Critical Access Hospital - Permanent Employee

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to help patients reach their functional goals. This role involves implementing treatment plans and assisting patients with exercises and therapeutic activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Treatment: Instruct and motivate patients during exercises and functional activities. Administer various treatments, including therapeutic exercises, massage, and modalities (heat, sound, electrical).

  • Observation & Reporting: Observe patients' responses to treatment, measure their range of motion and vital signs, and report progress to the Physical Therapist.

  • Collaboration: Confer with the Physical Therapist and other staff to coordinate and modify treatment plans. Instruct patients and their families on therapeutic activities and plans.

  • Patient Handling: Safely transport, lift, and transfer patients to and from treatment areas.

  • Equipment: Fit patients for orthopedic braces and other supportive devices like crutches.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: An Associate's degree or certification from a physical therapy program is required. You must also be licensed in Montana.

  • Skills: Strong patient care skills, compassion, and attention to detail are essential. You should also have a basic understanding of physical therapy and medical terminology.

  • Physical: This role requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds when transferring and positioning patients. It involves prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
