The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services to patients in an in-house rehabilitation setting. The COTA plays a crucial role in implementing treatment plans, assisting patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals, and promoting their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating patient needs and developing individualized treatment plans.

• Implement therapeutic activities and interventions as outlined by the Occupational Therapist.
• Monitor and document patient progress, providing feedback to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, exercises, and strategies to enhance recovery.
• Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment outcomes in compliance with facility policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of patient-centered care strategies.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients during therapy sessions.
• Stay current with best practices and advancements in occupational therapy.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

• Current COTA certification and state licensure (or eligibility for licensure).
• Previous experience in an in-house rehabilitation setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed.

• Capable of standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks related to patient care.
