Medical Receptionist / Medical Assistant – Neurosurgery Practice
Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Locations: Monroeville, Washington, and Warrendale, PA
Travel: Required, typically one day per week

Job Summary
Busy private neurosurgery practice seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant. This is a combined front-office and clinical-support position requiring prior medical-office experience.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple responsibilities, communicating with patients, working within an electronic medical record, and supporting providers during clinic. This position requires travel among our Monroeville, Washington, and Warrendale offices, typically one day per week.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and manage the check-in and check-out process
- Answer and route telephone calls professionally
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Verify and update patient demographics, insurance information, and required forms
- Collect copayments and outstanding patient balances
- Obtain and document vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and relevant medical history
- Prepare examination rooms and room patients efficiently
- Assist physicians and clinical staff during office visits as directed
- Enter accurate information into the electronic medical record
- Scan, upload, and organize medical records, imaging reports, and outside documentation
- Request medical records and imaging when needed
- Coordinate referrals, testing, follow-up appointments, and provider orders
- Communicate professionally with patients, hospitals, physician offices, and insurance companies
- Communicate patient status effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Keep clinical and reception areas clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Perform additional administrative and clinical duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office is required
- Medical Assistant certification is preferred but not required
- Experience in neurosurgery, orthopedics, pain management, or another specialty practice is a plus
- Strong computer and electronic medical record skills
- Excellent telephone etiquette and patient-service skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for travel between offices
- Must maintain discretion when handling confidential patient and practice information
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to assist with normal clinical rooming duties
- Ability to lift and carry routine office or medical supplies
