Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer
Job Description
This role supports a busy concrete and aggregate operation by performing general yard labor, assisting with material handling, and operating a front-end loader and other equipment. You will work primarily outdoors in a fast-paced environment, supporting concrete production activities and helping keep the yard organized, safe, and efficient.
Responsibilities
- Perform general yard maintenance, including sweeping, cleaning, and keeping work areas organized and safe.
- Direct trucks around the yard to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow and proper positioning for loading and unloading.
- Assist with stocking and organizing inventory, ensuring materials and supplies are in the correct locations.
- Perform basic concrete testing in the field and at the plant under guidance, following established procedures.
- Carry out concrete tests as directed to support quality control for concrete production.
- Take direction from the head batcher and junior batcher on daily tasks and general duties around the yard.
- Operate or train to operate a front-end loader to move materials and support plant operations.
- Use hand and power tools for tasks such as digging, breaking up concrete, and general labor activities.
- Dig materials and perform jackhammering of concrete as required for yard and plant operations.
- Support batch plant operations by preparing materials, following instructions from the batch operator, and assisting with the concrete process.
- Arrive at the job site on time, review task lists from the batch operator, and complete assigned work with minimal supervision.
- Assist other team members when primary tasks are completed, including taking on additional yard maintenance or labor duties as needed.
- Work safely and efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on quality and productivity.
- Perform basic data entry related to materials, inventory, or test results as directed.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of experience working outdoors in a construction-type environment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as a front-end loader, or other heavy equipment
- Ability to follow directions closely and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capability to work overtime, including some Saturdays during the summer season.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong desire to grow and advance within the company.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with physical labor, including lifting, digging, and extended periods of walking around the yard.
- Basic data entry skills for recording information related to materials or testing.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools safely for general labor tasks.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, primarily outdoor role based at a concrete and aggregate yard. Typical hours run Monday through Friday, starting around 6:00–7:00 a.m. and ending around 5:00–5:30 p.m., with 10–12 hour days common and some Saturday work during the summer. In winter, the schedule supports a full 40-hour workweek.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
