Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a small community hospital in Oregon, with Epic experience and the ability to titrate a wide range of drips required.

  • Small 40-bed acute care community hospital with a 4-bed ICU unit
  • \n
  • MS, IMCU, and ICU are all located on the same floor
  • \n
  • Patient population includes DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress, and COVID
  • \n
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
  • \n
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, Precedex, Fentanyl, Insulin, Esmolol, Versed, Ketamine, and others
  • \n
  • Mindray monitoring system in use — must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips
  • \n
  • Charting via Epic EMR
  • \n
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • \n
  • Scheduling done in 2-week blocks by management; nights are typically grouped in sets of 3–4 consecutive shifts
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • Holiday rotation may apply if a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled shift
  • \n
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • \n
  • Floating to IMCU or MS may be required with a full patient assignment; candidates with ED experience may be asked to float to or assist in the ED
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active Oregon RN license required
  • \n
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; TNCC and PALS preferred
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • \n
  • Proficiency with telemetry strip interpretation required
  • \n
  • Experience with drip titration required
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Level 4 Trauma facility — candidates must be comfortable functioning with more limited resources and assisting across units as needed
  • \n
  • Charge nurse oversees MS, IMCU, and ICU and does not typically carry a patient assignment
  • \n
  • Hospitalist available 24/7 on-site; Intensivist on-site Monday–Friday 8 AM–5 PM, with OHSU telemedicine coverage after hours and on weekends
  • \n
  • Respiratory therapy staff available in the facility 24/7 with ICU support as needed
  • \n
  • Nurse aides available on the unit, shared with the MS floor
  • \n
  • Orientation consists of 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
  • \n
  • Any color scrubs permitted; must be clean and professional
  • \n
  • No visible face tattoos during shift; natural hair colors required
  • \n
