American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment at a critical access hospital in Minnesota, requiring Epic/Excellian proficiency and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

- Critical access hospital with 19 staffed beds, located in Minnesota \n
- Labor & Delivery unit with an LDRP setting delivering fewer than 100 births per month \n
- Average daily census of 1–2 patients \n
- Patient ratios: 1:3 on days, 1:2–3 on nights and weekends \n
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7a) \n
- Every other weekend required; every 3rd weekend may be considered \n
- No on-call responsibilities \n
- Floating may be required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate — travelers are not expected to take a patient assignment outside of OB, but may serve as a 'watcher' for mental health or at-risk patients, or assist with vitals, toileting, and repositioning on med/surg \n
- Block scheduling will be considered \n
- Charting system: Epic (Excellian) — experience required \n
- 20-week assignment \n

- Active MN RN license required; pending license accepted at time of offer \n
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and FHM \n
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Intermediate \n
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required \n
- Proficiency with Epic/Excellian charting system required \n
- Must be able to perform IV starts \n
- Must be able to provide comprehensive L&D care including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care \n
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible \n
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration \n
- Fingerprinting (LiveScan) required — candidates must complete this as early as possible, as results can take 1 day to 3–4 weeks; this is a Minnesota state requirement with no exceptions \n

- Responsibilities span the full continuum of OB care: triage, antepartum monitoring (NST, EFM), labor support, delivery assistance, postpartum care, couplet care, and newborn assessment \n
- Key clinical skills include fetal heart monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, hemorrhage/shock management, Pitocin/Magnesium Sulfate administration, and epidural pain management \n
- Newborn care includes APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, phototherapy, hypoglycemia management, and discharge teaching to parents \n
- Charge nurse experience is preferred \n
- Community hospital experience is preferred \n
- Travel experience is preferred but not required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply \n
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or per diem must have been gone at least 3 months from their last shift before being eligible \n
- RTO requests are ideally limited to no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment \n
- Pre-start online modules are required prior to the first shift; completion is tracked via transcripts \n
- Scrubs are provided by the facility \n
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space \n
